The first housing facility of TPHHR that is slated to open in 2022 will be the TPHHR Group Home. This facility will offer court-ordered adjudicated youth offenders in the District of Columbia a community-based alternative as opposed to incarceration. The goal for this program is to provide specialized support, understanding, compassion, and services that are needed to restore trust and to adequately integrate troubled youth back into their communities which can transform their lives.
TPHHR proposes to collaborate with the District of Columbia Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) for referrals and applications for admission. TPHHR facilities will offer safe, structured, gender-designated homelike residential facilities that will support each youth as they focus on their emotional, educational, and employment goals. Each facility will house gender-specific residents between the ages of 13-18 years old providing them with short-term care and will typically house six – 10 youth.
At, TPHHR we understand that many of the youth we serve have experienced complex trauma – a major factor that will play a pivotal role in their future success. As a result, all services will be provided encompassing the theory-based trauma-informed model of care. Supportive services that will be offered can include individual, family, and pastoral counseling, vocational and employment training, substance abuse counseling, life-skills training, tutoring, mentoring, and recreational activities.
We are working aggressively with the potential of opening the facility in the first quarter of 2022. Please stay tuned for further information regarding our grand opening.
